The essential oils for this blend have been chosen for the following reasons:
Geranium for it’s uplifting, balancing, soothing, warming and regulating qualities. Geranium acts as a great tonic for nervous tension and stress related conditions. In addition it has anti-inflammatory and antiseptic properties and promotes speedy healing so helps with cuts and bruises. It balances the production of sebum so can benefit dry or oily skin. It is useful in menopausal problems or where hormone balances fluctuates such as pre menstrual tension. It can also stimulate the lymphatic system so geranium aids elimination of body toxins. It is also a diuretic so can relieve fluid retention and can help with cellulite.
Bergamot for its reviving, calming, soothing, uplifting (lifts the spirits), relaxing and balancing qualities. It is good to use for anxiety and stress related conditions. It is also an antiseptic, analgesic and antispasmodic. It is useful in skin care including, acne, eczema, insect bites, wounds and cold sores.
Cedarwood for it’s restorative, uplifting and warming properties which can help with nervous tension and stress related disorders. It can be used for skin care to treat acne, dandruff, eczema, oily skin and psoriasis. It is an antiseptic, antispasmodic and astringent.
Bergamot is a photosensitiser – increases the skins reaction to sunlight making it more likely to burn as it contains the chemical Bergapetene which accelerates tanning of the skin without protection. However, we use bergamot that has the Bergapetene removed for safety (this is the FCF declaration in the name). Bergamot can irritate VERY senstivie skin.
Not to be used in pregnancy as cedarwood can induce an abortion and geranium can affect hormone production
